There has always been a part of me that wanted 3 or more kids. So really, it’s no surprise we are here, waiting to welcome our third little miracle into he world. And yet, I am still so in shock that we are HERE! About to welcome our THIRD BABY to our home. Maybe it’s because I still don’t feel old enough or mature enough to have 1 kid, let alone 3. But hey, we are out here doing the dang thing!
As a photographer, it’s in my blood to want to document each stage of life and every season. Bless my family for putting up with the shenanigans. There’s something so tender about the in-between seasons of motherhood. The ones where you’re living one chapter and quietly stepping into the next. This photo session was exactly that for us. Our last photos as a family of four.
I knew I wanted to freeze this moment before it slipped into memory: two toddlers at my feet, one baby growing under my heart, a home that’s loud and messy and full, and a season that feels both stretching and unbelievably sweet. These photos aren’t just pictures… they’re a time capsule of who we were right before everything changes again.
Soaking in the Season We’re In
Having little ones close in age means life moves fast. Faster than I ever expect. One day you’re rocking a newborn, and the next that same baby is asking for snacks, checking fences with Dad, or wanting to ride in the big kid saddle. I’ve learned to pause more intentionally, to soak in the chaos and the softness, and to celebrate these fleeting seasons while I still get to hold them.
Preparing for Baby #3
As we get ready to welcome our newest little one, I can feel our family stretching. Making room for more love, more noise, and more tiny hands around the table. I’m excited and nervous and grateful all at once. And I want our older two to remember how deeply loved they were right here, in this chapter, before they step into their new roles as big brother and big sister.
These photos capture that tender transition. The anticipation. The joy. The steadiness of our family, even as we get ready to shift into something new.
Closing Thoughts
One day, these will be the “remember when” photos. The ones our kids point to and say, “That was before baby brother came!” And I love that. I love that we paused long enough to say, this mattered.
