St. Patricks Day is one of those holidays you either go all out for, or throw on a green shirt and call it a day. As the self proclaimed “doing the most” mama, I think you can guess where I fall in this category. However, if there was a middle ground between being over the top and doing the bare minimum, I would say I fall somewhere in there. I love holidays. Decorating, making a fun meal, whatever it might be! But I especially love a cute goodie basket for my babies. My mom always did the most magical things for us growing up. And even the small holidays felt big. My hope is to bring that same kind of magic to my kiddos and their childhood.

Ballin’ On A Budget

If you are someone who is thinking “well I would love to do all of those things too, but I am on a budget!” I hear you! This month, and frankly, this time of year is not ideal for me to spend a ton of money on a holiday like St. Patricks Day. We just had Valentine’s day, and I go pretty big for that. But we also have my birthday, and our daughter Fallon’s birthday this month. Which means parties, gifts, and everything else. So with that being said, I like to celebrate St. Patrick’s day, but within reason. This post is meant to give you some ideas on how to celebrate the day and make it fun, without breaking the bank!

The Table and Decorations

One of the easiest ways to bring a holiday to life is with some fun table decor. Obviously if you really want to go big you can have different table ware for every occasion. How fun is this green set of plates and bowls? Paired with these gold cutlery, the combo makes for the perfect leprechaun approved meal! But if you aren’t down to add more things to your cabinets for one day, a simple trick I learned from my mother in law is to get fun napkins for the occasion! These shamrock ones are adorable! Add it to the place setting you already have. It looks like you tried, even without putting much effort in!

The Food

No surprise here, but the perfect St. Patrick’s day meal is corned beef and cabbage! Duh! This is one of those things you either love or leave. I love it. My husband? He would leave it. Guess we will have a compromise and have corned beef!

Here’s an easy recipe to follow if this is your first time making the dish! It’s simple!!

Fun Traditions

Saint Patrick’s Day is all about celebrating Irish culture, luck, and a whole lot of green! Here are some fun traditions to try:

Wearing Green – Avoid getting pinched! It’s said that wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns.

HERE ARE SOME FUN OUTFITS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

Shamrock Hunt – Take the kids outside and search for clovers—bonus points if you find a four-leaf one!

Leprechaun Trap – Set up a little trap the night before with gold coins (chocolate or plastic) and see if your toddler “catches” a mischievous leprechaun.

Green Food & Drinks – Make green pancakes, cookies, or a shamrock shake. Adults might enjoy a festive green beer or Irish coffee!

Irish Music & Dancing – Play some traditional Irish tunes and try an Irish jig (or just have a dance party).

Parade or Festival – If there’s a local Saint Patrick’s Day parade, it’s a great way to soak in the festive vibes!

Lucky Rainbow Scavenger Hunt – Hide little gold coins or treats in different spots around the house and let your little one find them.

Watch an Irish Movie – Family-friendly choices include The Secret of Kells or Song of the Sea
